The “New Castle II’ is a two storey home with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths with a double car garage. As with another home from A & S, there was a friendly greeting to those attending the Parade of Homes with a huge green ribbon and bow stretched across the double door of the garage. The front facade included two tall columns leading up to the entrance.

Once inside the front door, there was a coat closet at hand. Overhead was an elegant chandelier. To one side, there was a curved wood railing beyond which was the formal dining room. The 9 ft. ceilings in this home make the rooms feel bigger and more open. There is a large window in this dining room facing toward the front street. It can comfortably accommodate a large table and chairs.

If entering through the garage, you would be walking into the mud room with a coat closet and the washer and dryer. There is a two-piece powder room in that ‘back’ hallway which goes into the central hall.

The rear area of the main level includes the kitchen and an eating area beside it, plus the great room directly opposite. There is a double stainless steel sink right under a large window overlooking the backyard. All the appliances are stainless steel and the stove in this show home featured a five element top. The cupboards and cabinets are all oak and the countertops are granite. There is a walk-in pantry with a light that turns on when you open the door and turns off when you close the door. Especially handy when your hands are full of things to put in or take out of that area. Simple, but genius! The island in the kitchen had ample space as a work area plus room for stools at its edge, cupboards and electrical outlets for using small appliances. Also included at one end of the counter was a small ‘desk’ space for a telephone and perhaps some cookbooks.

The eating area next to the kitchen had ample space for a table and chairs, plus lots of light from the windows along the back wall. The door to the backyard is found right beside it. While having a meal, the residents can enjoy surveying their property and the seasons of the year go by.

The great room featured several built-ins with a gas fireplace and a built-in entertainment centre, which made more display space for accessories or electronic equipment. The huge window in this space made this room ‘the’ place for the residents of this home to gather. It was easy to visualize celebrating special occasions in such a cozy, ‘warm’ room.

Special mention needs to be made of all the niches, shelves and extra spots that are found in this home. For buyers who love their knickknacks and treasures and pieces of art, you will have plenty of room to display them all.

Upstairs, about half the sq. footage is apportioned to the master bedroom, its walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom. The bedroom itself has two windows framing the bed plus the closet. The decor was tasteful and the colours neutral. Plenty of room for a king-size bed and a large dresser and bureau! The bathroom was very well designed. It has a big jacuzzi tub, a separate shower area plus a good amount of cupboard space. The rest of the second level included two more bedrooms with roomy closets, a full bathroom and linen storage.

The lower level of this home has the furnace, water heater, electrical panel and a large space where future rooms can be built.
